Interior Design Analysis
"The
house had been on the market for two years. It was a modern estate,
but packed to the gills with antiques. The incongruity of two radically
diverse styles proved too much for prospective Buyers. But professional
"house stylist" Lori Matzke was undeterred. She urged
the Seller to tone down the interior flourish - doilies, silk flowers
and too many carpets. He followed her advice and a week later the
home sold for nearly full price."
Sellers have been preparing their homes for sale by planting, patching
and clearing out the clutter for centuries. But, it's only been
recently that the concept of professional styling has entered the
market place. "How you show a home isn't the same as how you
live in it", says Matzke, founder of Center
Stage. "That porcelain collection or furniture arrangement
that draws compliments from guests may impede Buyers' ability to
see the house.
The goal in marketing your home is to have the Buyers want to own
your home when they see it. That means
they must be able to visualize themselves living in your house with
their furnishings... not yours. So, just like any
retail product, your house needs to be "displayed" properly.
Since we take our mission seriously
to sell your home, if we feel it is necessary to improve the presentation
of your home, we will hire the services of an interior designer
to provide expert recommendations. This is a FREE service.
It may simply require a splash of color here, plant a few flowers
there or remove some clutter, but, it could also be more substantive.
One
of the designers we confidently recommend is Renee Jones. For more
than 20 years she has been an expert at helping clients increase
the value of their homes by cost effectively enhancing both function
and aesthetics.
Normally, we offer this free service
prior to signing the Listing Agreement. That way we will have provided
you with the information and recommendations which may be needed
for you to sell your home.
